About BagBack

Clear baggage guidance, checked against the systems and rules behind it.

BagBack exists to translate baggage operations, airline processes and passenger-rights rules into calm, usable next steps. It is independent of airlines, airports, handlers, SITA and claims companies.

01

Built from practical baggage-operations knowledge

BagBack's perspective is informed by practical experience of baggage operations: tags, scans, tracing files, physical descriptions, station handovers and the gap between an operational status and what a passenger can actually see.

That experience is used to explain the process, not to claim access to an airline's live systems or to promise that a particular bag will be recovered by a particular time.

02

Primary sources come before convenient summaries

Legal and industry explanations are checked against organisations such as ICAO, the UK Civil Aviation Authority, IATA and SITA. Airline-specific buttons point to the airline's own reporting, tracking, contact or claim service wherever a direct route has been verified.

Independent consumer sources can add useful context, but they do not replace the treaty text, regulator guidance or the responsible airline's current process.

03

The site labels important boundaries

  • General information is not legal advice for an individual case.
  • The 1,519 SDR figure is a liability ceiling, not a guaranteed payout.
  • A PIR starts a baggage record but may not submit a written claim.
  • A personal tracker supports the search but does not replace airline reporting.
  • Airline links, allowances and procedures can change after review.

04

Review and correction process

Core legal thresholds are reviewed when ICAO or regulators publish a change. Airline links and operational guidance are checked periodically and prioritised when search data shows that passengers are relying on a page.

When something is ambiguous, BagBack uses narrower wording rather than inventing a universal rule. Material corrections should update the page review date and the affected explanation, not merely hide the old statement.

05

Privacy and independence

BagBack does not ask passengers to send PIR references, surnames, baggage tags, passports or booking documents. The claim planner and letter generator run in the browser and are designed to keep entered details on the user's device.

BagBack is an information service. It does not represent an airline, submit claims, recover bags or receive payment for promising a particular outcome.
