Air France baggage guide

Air France baggage tracking and claims.

Open Air France’s official baggage tracker with your report’s claim number. Reimbursement is separate. BagBack is independent and is not affiliated with Air France.

Enter your personal details only on the official service. A tracing report is not an approved compensation claim.

01

No report yet? Start with the missing-baggage process

Report at the AIR FRANCE KLM baggage desk before leaving. Online reporting is available within seven days of arrival only for eligible airports; have your baggage receipt ready.

02

Track the report, not your booking

Use the claim number issued after reporting. The airline’s tracker shows the baggage-search request, not approval of reimbursement. BagBack cannot access or amend it.

03

After 72 hours, prepare the contents inventory

If still missing, Air France asks for an inventory through its online baggage-search tool. Record the contents and their values accurately.

04

Keep the essentials claim separate

Keep itemised receipts for necessary toiletries and replacement clothing. Air France states a 21-day reimbursement window after receiving the bag; payment is not automatic.

05

A tracker location is not a collection instruction

Air France accepts an AirTag Share Item Location link through its missing-baggage form with consent. Stop sharing after return. Wait for confirmed collection instructions, even if the map shows the airport.

Common questions

What passengers ask next.

Does a Air France baggage report also make a compensation claim?

Do not assume so. The baggage report creates the tracing or damage record. The airline may require a separate written claim with receipts, values and supporting evidence.

What should I keep after reporting the bag?

Keep the PIR or file reference, bag-tag receipt, boarding pass, photographs, itemised purchase receipts and a copy of every form or message you submit.

Which deadline applies?

Check the airline’s current process immediately. Where the Montreal Convention applies, damage complaints are generally due within seven days of receiving the bag and delay complaints within 21 days of its return, but initial airline reporting windows may be shorter.
