WorldTracer name error

WorldTracer surname not recognised? Use the name on the PIR.

The surname field is checked against the baggage report, which may not match the booking contact or the person who completed the form. Copy the name from the PIR before changing its format.

01

The portal is matching two pieces of case information

Passenger pages commonly require the file reference and the surname attached to that report. A group booking, double surname, punctuation or desk-entry error can therefore cause rejection even when the flight booking is correct.

Treat both details as private. The combination may expose baggage-case information.

02

Check the report details before escalating

  • Check which passenger the affected bag was tagged to.
  • Copy hyphens, spaces and name order only as the portal instructs.
  • Do not substitute the booking lead's surname automatically.
  • Check whether the airline provides a separate manage-report page for your station.

03

Correct the file through the responsible airline

  • Use the baggage contact on the report.
  • Explain the exact spelling shown and the correction required.
  • Ask the airline to confirm the correct portal after updating the record.
  • Save proof of the contact and keep every expense receipt.

04

Tracking and claiming remain separate

Keep the PIR, bag-tag receipt, boarding pass, status history and itemised essential-purchase receipts. A WorldTracer or airline status update does not submit a reimbursement claim.

BagBack is independent and cannot see, amend or accelerate any airline, handler or WorldTracer record.

Common questions

What passengers ask next.

Which surname should I use for WorldTracer?

Use the passenger surname recorded on the PIR or baggage report, which may differ from the booking lead.

Should I remove spaces or hyphens?

Follow the airline portal's own instruction. If the exact PIR spelling fails, contact the airline rather than repeatedly guessing.

Can BagBack change the spelling?

No. Only the responsible airline or handler can view or amend the baggage report.
